This one is going to be a little tough for me. Last Fall, as you readers know, the family lost Ricky. This happened on the same day the Cowboys played the Colts. The Cowboys won that game over the eventual Super Bowl champs. As a die hard Cowboy fan I must admit—Indi was the better team. I some how believe Ricky convinced God when he got to heaven that I really needed that game. Its the only win in Cowboys history that I watched in complete apathy. But Ricky—thanks for always thinking of me, and it certainly was better than the alternative of adding to one of the worst days of my life…
So on to the game tomorrow. First, don’t expect to see much of the starters. It was announced today that TO will start. I would expect that he, Romo, Julius, and most of the starters will be long done by the end of the first quarter. BUT this is the fun of preseason!! Watching out for the fringe guys and draft picks fighting their hearts out to make the roster.
Players to look out for:
Anthony Spencer - always good to check out your first round pick. With Greg Ellis recovering from injury expect to see Specer playing opposite Ware (or whoever is playing where Ware would be playing) quite a bit in the first half.
Bobby Carpenter - Last years number one pick playing inside. Last January in Seattle Bobby Carpenter played like a man on fire. Its hard to tell a lot in preseason games, but I am looking forward to seeing if he is more comfortable entering his 2nd year.
Chris Canty and Marcus Spears on the DE spots upfront - Canty is Mr. All Camp to this point according to reports. Spears is the other 1st round pick from 05 (the other being Ware) and he is talked all offseason about how great it will be to be free of Parcells holding him back. Put up time Marcus—otherwise, shut up!!!
Austin Miles - Austin made the roster last year, and took a kickoff all the way back for a TD in the playoff game. However, clearly it seems he sits behind Crayton and Hurd on the depth chart…
Speaking of which, Sam Hurd - He is also all camp up to this point. The coaches see him as a future starter in the NFL. Just in case you have not noticed our starting wideouts are not exactly getting younger. Hurd has a golden chance to show he can be the future for us on the outside.
Enjoy the game, and Wade I am here for you if you need me.
