Today is the day!! Very few days are held in the regard I hold this day. I have said it before—I will see it again. Birthdays of those I love are big days. Christmas is a big day. Thanksgiving is a big day—although my favorite part of that is the Cowboys game. Anniversaries—big days. BUT today—TODAY—is the start of football for me!

New Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips at his Precamp Press Conference

Its relevant! Things are happening! A team is being forged from 70 to 80 some odd players. 53 will earn their spot on the ‘07 Dallas Cowboys, and it all starts today. Those football parties, endless lazy hours in a comatose spectator mode—-the overwhelming joy, the air sucking bitterness. Its here!!!

Sitting here on July 25th for the first time in many years I have no idea what to expect from this team in terms of results. There are too many questions. Is Romo our next Franchise QB? Is this defense ready to play to the level it should based on the talent? What—not will—will TO do this year, and how will it effect the team? Will Wade Phillips get this team to reach its potential?

BUT the talent is as high at every position, and the depth is as deep as most positions as we have had in a really long time. I can’t tell you—or even guess—what our record will be, and what we will do. I can tell you I will spend untold hours watching, celebrating, and aggrivating about it—starting today!!!

I quickly wanted to point you all to a great story in the Dallas Morning News today. Todd Archer, a DMN columnist, rode down to camp with Jason Witten, Terrence Newmann, and Tony Romo with Julius Jones following them in a separate car. I enjoyed reading about these NFL Superstars just being normal guys for a few hours on a road trip. I hope you will enjoy it should you choose to follow the link…
