This may be the shortest ever pregame blog. Some of the Vikings will play even fewer of the Cowboys in front of what will likely be a lightly crowded Texas Stadium. The reality is that both of these teams just played!! They each got in one—maybe 2 practices in between games, and all of the Coaches are already breaking down their week 1 opponents to game plan. Honestly, I am surprised they even make the coordinators attend the last preseason game.

(Terry is safe, but will it be Hurd or Green backing him up?)

That being said there are likely 3 or 4 roster spots still up for grabs, but the good news is the 6 or 7 people fighting for them are all capable players. Tomorrow is it for a few guys—-on this roster anyway. That being said, the guys still fighting it out are probably NFL quality players.

So here are my parting shots for the guys I think can still battle on to the 53 with a great showing:

Sam Hurd: I have been pulling for you. Play your best game, and leave it all on the field!

Skyler Green: You had every opportunity. Your only chance is to break a long return tomorrow

Lousaka Polite: One of my favorites. Catch balls out of the backfield, get plenty of yards after the catch, block blitzers, and play with every thing you got.

Oliver Hoyte: Who? Linebacker—but you have a chance to make it if you bust your butt on Special Teams. Cover kickoffs and punts like your life depends on it—because at least your job does.

Montavious Stanley: Sack the QB tomorrow at least once, and plug up running lanes. You got a shot, but you have to impress more than you have up to now. Remind them of why they spent a 6th round pick on your services.

Shaun Suisham: Pray that Vanderjagt doesn’t kickoff well. After going wide right on a 35 yard FG attempt against the 49ers its your only shot.

Abram Elam: Find a way to pick one off tomorrow night at safety. You are competing against Willie Pile with 3 years experience. Show them that your upside is more valuable than his tenure.

Obviously, those guys will never read this—-but if you choose to watch the game that is what I think should be the focus. There probably won’t be a post game blog as I don’t think much will happen to break down, but I definitely will have a post on who makes it and who doesn’t this weekend!
